Cobra Kai Season 4: Paul Walter Hauser reveals that he is excited to return to Netflix’s Cobra Kai as ’80s heavy metal aficionado Raymond, better known as Stingray.
Hauser’s character was introduced in Season 2 of the martial arts drama as a hardware store employee who befriends William Zabka’s Johnny Lawrence and becomes the fictional dojo’s oldest pupil.
Stingray becomes involved in the climactic student battle after originally backing John Kreese in the attempted takeover of Cobra Kai Season 4. He is arrested and placed on the post-trial process with a restraining order prohibiting him from going within 500 feet of any children.
As a YouTube Original drama, the series begins 34 years after the events of The Karate Kid, with Lawrence and Ralph Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso returning to the fictional dojo in an attempt to restart his life and aid juvenile social outcasts in protecting themselves.
However, doing so enrages LaRusso and reignites the animosity between the two, which is passed down to their students. The two’s boat is also rocked when Johnny’s former sensei Kreese arrives, attempting to retake Cobra Kai and restore it to the dishonorable nature with which it was founded.
Cobra Kai Season 4: Who Wants to Return?
Hauser was given some information regarding the possibility of his returning to Netflix’s Cobra Kai after being away from the third season when speaking with The Hollywood Reporter about his work on Disney’s Cruella. Despite seeing a desire to see the show’s core characters get more screen time, the 34-year-old actor confirmed he’d be willing to return if asked.
Whether playing the funny buddy to Margot Robbie’s Tonya Harding in me, Tonya, or an overly excited white supremacist in Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman, Hauser has shown to be a consistently entertaining presence on film.
Given his growing ubiquity and film offers, his absence from the previous episode of Netflix’s Cobra Kai made sense, but hearing his continued desire in resuming the role should keep fans hopeful that he can return.
However, a restraining order keeping him away from minors has created a big narrative obstacle for the creative team to overcome in order to assist reveal his return to the fold.
Regardless matter whether Stingray appears in the fourth or fifth seasons of the show, viewers must look forward to the return of Cobra Kai. With Terry Silver, played by Thomas Ian Griffith, confirmed as a key enemy for Season 4, Daniel and Johnny are set to confront the fight of their lives.
Audiences should keep an eye out for what’s to come until further notice, as a real trailer should debut soon before the series returns later this year.
