In the year of 1982, David Cook was born, and he is now 39 years of age. He was raised in Blue Spring, Missouri, but was born in Houston, Texas. Even as a youngster, Cook had a strong desire to sing and began doing so in the second grade.

David Cook had no intention of entering the American Idol competition since he was more focused on his job as a member of the band Midwest Kings. When his mother suggested he do it, he went to the audition to support his little brother and ended up auditioning for the programme.
Though he didn’t get an audition, his brother performed well with his rendition of Livin’ On A Prayer in Hollywood. Cook wowed the panel of judges at his Hollywood audition with a rendition of Bryan Adams’ “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You.”

Cook’s final song was Permanent, and he won the competition with 56% of the votes and a 12 million-vote lead over the first runner-up, David Archuleta.
