Elite Dangerous Release: Odyssey has been postponed.

Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Review: Frontier Developments has decided to hold off on releasing the game on consoles until the PC version has been updated. Many technical faults have plagued the PC version, most of which are rather serious.

The game was released in May to dismal reviews from fans owing to a slew of performance issues. Crashing, server failures, glitches, and even some items that interfered with previous material were all concerns with the purchased DLC.

Frontier Developments CEO and Founder David Braben stated in a Forum post that development on console versions has not advanced as intended due to the team’s focus on PC concerns.

Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Delayed

While the PC version is being worked on, the dates and specifics for additional platform releases will be updated. As a result, Xbox and PlayStation gamers will have to wait a little longer for the game to arrive on their respective systems.

“Only when we believe the foundation of the PC release is stable will we be able to re-lay our console roadmap on top,” Braben added. Frontier Developments’ choice to delay the console versions, for the time being, may disappoint some, but it is, after all, the right one.

Working on the PC version first will allow the developers to focus on the console versions more effectively. This aids the developers in creating a console version that is bug-free. Odyssey, as Braben said in the update, is a significant step forward for Elite Dangerous since it allows players to walk about the globe for the first time.

The focus has now switched to providing a bug-free and stable experience for gamers. Let us know what you think of this update and if you plan to play the game on consoles when it becomes available.
