Season 9 intentions were unclear due to the sudden advent of the COVID-19 pandemic in mid-2020. Mark Montefiore said in September 2020 that filming for seasons 10 and 11 that was supposed to take place in August and September had been put back to 2021, implying that Letterkenny Season 9 had been completed.

On November 18, 2020, the new season’s teaser was released on show-related web media, along with Bell Media’s announcement of the revised release date in a public statement.
