In the wake of Gabriel’s departure, Collins stepped in to take over as the group’s main singer. According to one critic, “He sounded more like Gabriel than Gabriel did,” and he was the main singer for Genesis on several albums, including…And Then There Were Three… (1978), Duke (198o) Abacab (1981) Genesis (1983) Invisible Touch (1986) and We Can’t Dance (1997). (1988). (1991).

Upon returning to Disney in 2003, he was asked to compose the soundtrack for “Brother Bear,” an animated feature film (2003). Besides singing the soundtrack’s “Look Through My Eyes,” Collins was also a composer and lyricist for the film, which included the song. “Going Back,” his eighth solo studio album, was released in 2010.
In 2015, Phil Collins signed a deal with Warner Music Group under which all of his solo records will be remastered for distribution. “Not Dead Yet” was published in 2016 as a follow-up to his autobiography.
As a solo artist and with the Genesis band (the band has reformed a few times, as as in 2006 for their “Turn It On Again: The Tour” reunion tour), he has maintained a hectic touring schedule since then.
His solo work won him a vast fan following as well as multiple prizes, including seven Grammys, six Brit Awards, three American Music Awards, an Academy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and the Disney Legend Award, among others.
