Prodigal Son Season 3 creators reveal their plans, which include Michael Sheen.

Prodigal Son Season 3 News: Chris Fedak and Sam Sklaver created the American crime thriller Prodigal Son, which aired in September 2019. The programme follows Malcolm Bright, an ex-FBI profiler who fears becoming a psychopath since his father is a serial murderer, over the course of two seasons. To atone for his sins, he begins working for the NYPD as a detective.

After being renewed in May 2020, the show’s second season premiered in January of this year. The series, however, was terminated this month in May due to low ratings. The second season and series finale, which broadcast on May 18, 2021, had a shocking conclusion.

The show’s creators have disclosed what they had planned for the third season before it was cancelled by the Fox Broadcasting Company.

Prodigal Son Season 3 Creators Plan

Sklaver teased fans about a major narrative that the creators had come up with for a potential third season in an interview with TVLine. They didn’t say much since they’re still hoping for a revival of the programme. He also mentioned how the programme thrived when all of the characters were exposed to diversity, and that the third season will be centred on those lines.

Even after the dramatic showdown between Bright and his father Martin Whitley (played by Michael Sheen) in the season 2 finale, co-creator Fedak confirmed that they were still planned to feature Sheen in the third season.

Prodigal Son Season 3

With its intriguing narrative, it appears that a third season may have boosted viewership.

Fortunately for fans, the cast and crew are still working on finding a new home for the programme. We can only hope that Netflix, HBO Max, or other streaming services pick up the show.

Until then, you may watch Season 1 of Prodigal Son on HBO Max and Season 2 on Hulu.
