Shetland Season 7 has kept its fans waiting for a long time; it’s been two and a half years since we’ve seen Shetland on the big screen, and now the sixth season is finally available to view on the BBC channel. So, in this series, we’ll see DI Jimmy Perez return for another major cause.

As fans prepare to see season six of the series, better news arrives: the series’ seventh season is now in production, and we will be able to watch season seven shortly.

Shetland Season 7: Is It Under Construction?

Season 6 of Shetland premiered on BBC on October 20, 2021, and I went clear that the fans had been waiting for this season 6 for more than two years.

In the most recent season, we saw Jimmy Perez dealing with a variety of challenging issues, including a murder involving Alex Galbraith, who was shot dead in his doorway.

And the answer to this question is yes, the producers have already declared that Shetland will return for a seventh season, and this announcement was made in December 2019 when it was revealed that seasons 6 and 7 will be available.

Actually, these two seasons were planned together previously but owing to Covid problems, they were not released as planned, and the series’ creators had the fans wait for two years.

However, because the series is still in development, no release date has been set for the seventh season, thus we anticipate that season seven of Shetland will premiere in 2022.
