Family Reunion Part 5: Who Is Returning? & Other Information

Family Reunion Part 5 Updates: After the release of Part 3 of Family Reunion in April, Netflix published the second half of Season 2, named Part 4, on August 26. The streaming service hasn’t said if the show will be renewed for a fifth season, but based on the highly strong fan response, the NAACP Image Award-winning sitcom isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

There is just one possible stumbling block: showrunner Meg DeLoatch joined CBS’ The Neighborhood as an executive producer and showrunner for the fourth season in June.

If Family Reunion gets renewed, she will have to stand down as showrunner, but she will remain an executive producer, according to Deadline. It’s unclear if DeLoatch accepted the job in order to put an end to Family Reunion or merely to transfer the torch to someone else.

The comedy stars Tia Mowry-Hardrict as Cocoa, her husband Moz (Anthony Alabi), and their four children Jade (Talia Jackson), Shaka (Isaiah Russell-Bailey), Mazzi (Cameron J. Wright), and Ami (Talia Jackson) (Jordyn James).

The McKellans moved from Seattle to Georgia to be closer to their extended family, which included M’Dear (Loretta Devine) and her pastor husband (Richard Roundtree). For Part 5, all of the main cast members are scheduled to return.

Family Reunion Part 5: Netflix Details

Family Reunion Part 5 is a comedy that not only makes you laugh but also makes you think about real-life concerns. “One of the things I enjoy most about Family Reunion is that, even as a family sitcom, we attempt to create a fun and thought-provoking program for adults as well,” DeLoatch said in a press release presenting Part 4 of the series.

“We strike a balance between gently presenting tough concepts to youngsters while still going deep enough to please a wider audience,” says the author.

Despite some bright and melodic moments, the McKellans identify a closeted family member and confront the horrific legacy of the N-word in Part 4. Family Reunion Part 5’s plot is unknown, but you can be sure it will maintain the show’s mix of serious and amusing topics.

The first half of Season 1 of Family Reunion aired in July 2019, followed by the second half six months later (including a standalone Christmas special in between). Due to the coronavirus outbreak, Season 2 was postponed, and Part 3 will not be released until April 2021. Family Reunion Part 5 of the series will most likely premiere on Netflix in early to mid-2022 if it is approved.
