The first season of Misfit of Demon King Academy has recently finished, but fans are still waiting to see whether and when the show will return for a second season.

Will there be a The Misfit of Demon Academy Season 2?

At the time of publishing, The Misfit of Demon King Academy has not been formally renewed for a second season, although the anime is widely expected to return.

Anime renewals are usually determined by two factors: popularity and source content. Unfortunately, we do not have official watching data for season 1, however, the anime appears to be a huge hit with fans, with ratings of 7.49/10 on MyAnimeList, 7.5/10 on IMDB, and 4.6/5 on Crunchyroll.

Only the first three volumes of the original online book series complete the first chapter, therefore there’s enough content for a sequel season. The official release date for Volume 8 is set for October 10th.

Interestingly, a well-known anime leaker dubbed ‘Ranobe Sugoi‘ recently tweeted after the Season 1 conclusion that ‘The Demon King Academy’s Misfit is too beautiful to have just 01 Season Academy.’

Sugoi will then react to a tweet with “I have not confirmed anything,” despite the fact that we should still take things like this with a grain of salt.

With The Misfit of Demon King Academy yet to be extended for a second season, no official release date has been set, but we can make some educated guesses based on season 1.

The anime version of Misfit of Demon King Academy was announced in October 2019, with the first season planned to broadcast in April 2020. Due to issues associated to the coronavirus epidemic, its release date has been pushed back to July 2020.

The most likely launch date is summer 2021 if the anime is formally renewed in the following two weeks and Season 2 has a comparable production length of almost nine months.
