Torger’s career in racing began in 1992, when he finished third in the Austrian Formula Ford Championship. He raced in the German Formula Ford Championship from 1993 to 1994.

With Lorenzo Case’s help the next year he took another victory in Italy’s GT Championship, which he also shared with Case.
